Women Arrested on Possession of Heroin, Stun Gun and Obstruction of Justice Charges

Police said the women were stopped after failing to stop for a blinking red light.

A 21-year-old Commerce woman, a 28-year-old Dearborn woman and a 62-year-old Eau Claire woman were arrested on charges of possession of heroin, carrying a concealed weapon and obstruction of justice on Aug. 7, according to a police report. 

Canton Police issued a traffic stop after the truck the women were in didn't stop for a flashing red light on Beck Road while traveling westbound on Geddes, the report said.

The driver told police that she was not aware that she failed to stop for the light. She said she was in Canton to drop her friend off, the report said.

One of the two passengers told police that she did not have identification on her, so she wrote down her name, but was unable to give an address because she was just released from jail for retail fraud, the report said. 

Police requested K9 assistance and were given a positive alert that an illegal substance was in the truck. Police searched the truck and located a makeup bag which contained a smaller makeup back with possible heroin inside, the report said.

Police also located a stun gun with a black case inside the driver's side door panel, according to the report.

The driver said the makeup bag belonged to the passengers and that she was unaware that heroin was in the car. She did admit to owning the stun gun, but didn't know they were illegal, the report aid. 

Both the passengers admitted to sharing the makeup bag and admitted to using heroin in the past, the report said.  

In addition, police located a purse with a social security card for the passenger who said she did not have identification. She told police she wrote down a different name because she was afraid that she had warrants out for her arrest, according to the report.
