Patch has sent out a survey to candidates running to fill Thaddeus McCotter's seat in Michigan's 11th Congressional District. Here are Steve King's (R-Livonia) responses.

Steve King of Livonia is perhaps best known locally as frontman of Detroit-area rock band Steve King and the Dittilies. In addition to his music, King is a former school board member, Livonia City Council candidate and teacher. King is running to serve the remainder of former Rep. Thaddeus McCotter's (R-Livonia) term representing Michigan's 11th Congressional District in the Sept. 5 special election.

I have lived in Livonia since 1956.

Occupation:

CEO, manager and musician, Steve King and the Dittilies (1983-present); Former school board member; Physical education teacher; Director of YMCA Youth Sports Program.

Education:

  • Master of Science, Educational Leadership from Madonna University 
  • Bachelor of Science from Wayne State University

Community service: 

I am running to continue my many years of service to the public. I have served as a teacher, coach and elected official in my hometown.
