Canton Township Saves Cash With Furloughs

Selected buildings to close 12 days this year to save money.

Selected Canton Township buildings will close for 12 days this year as part of unpaid furlough days, according to a report by the Canton Observer.

According to the report, police and fire emergency services will remain intact, as well as Canton Leisure Services programs at , and .

The report said the furlough days began Friday and will continue on Feb. 17, March 16, April 9, May 25, June 22, July 6, July 27, Aug. 31, Sept. 21, Oct. 5 and Nov. 9.

The employees also will take eight floating furlough hours, the report said, for an equivalent of 13 unpaid days during the year.
