Canton Trustee Pat Williams Announces He Will Run Again

Williams will seek second term on Canton Township Board of Trustees.

As Canton Township Trustee Pat Williams wraps up his first board term, he says he is ready to pursue a second.

Williams said in a news release today he believes "much work remains in Canton," including weathering declining revenues following a sharp downturn in property values.

"We have made tremendous progress," he said in the news release. "However, we are not done with getting our costs in line with our revenues."

Williams said the township needs to restore declining fund balances, address long-term legacy costs, push back against escalating water and sewer rates and spur economic development.

"We need to achieve all these things while balancing to maintain the level of service and quality of life our residents and business community have come to expect in Canton," he said.

Williams, who cites a long history of involvement with the community and local schools, first was elected to the board in 2008.

The primary for the general election is Aug. 7.

“We need all facets of our community to continue to work together for Canton Township and as a trustee I will continue to represent the citizens of Canton Township to ensure that Canton remains a premier location to live, work and play,” he said.
