Canton Youth and Teen Center Celebrates New Digs

The B.L.O.C.K. Youth and Teen Center will reopen at its new location, the Canton Administration Building, on Aug. 22.

After being closed the past few months, the B.L.O.C.K. (Building Leaders out of Canton's Kids) Youth and Teen Center will host an open house on Thursday, Aug. 22 to celebrate its grand reopening in its new location at the Canton Administration Building.

According to Canton Recreation Specialist Stephanie Pavio, the move began at the end of the school year. The B.L.O.C.K. will reopen for the first time to the public at the open house.

"Canton Township had interest in selling the property, so in order to ensure that we had a more permanent location for the kids and we were committed to the program, they decided to move us to a better location that wasn't going to be transitory so we wouldn't have to keep moving from year to year," Pavio said.

The open house will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Guests will be welcome to chat with B.L.O.C.K. staff, register for fall programming, and tour the new space. Light
refreshments will be served.

The newly renovated center, located on the third floor of the building, will feature video games, movies, a pool table, foosball, a quiet study area, a computer lab with some brand new computers as well as a larger style cafeteria kitchen area where snacks will be sold.

The B.L.O.C.K. is open to kids ages 11 through 17 and offers a safe, supervised after-school program for learning, fun and friendship. For more information, or to schedule a private tour, call 734-398-5570.
