Catherine Heise Appointed to Board of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery

Plymouth resident to serve four-year term.

Gov. Rick Snyder appointed of Catherine Heise of Plymouth, and James Kilmark of Belleville to the Michigan Board of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery, according to a news release from the state.

The board oversees the practice of osteopathic doctors and is responsible for promoting and protecting the public's health, safety and welfare, the news release said.

"These individuals bring unique experiences and backgrounds to the board," Snyder said in the news release. "I look forward to their work and diligence in ensuring Michigan's citizens are given proper care and treatment."

Heise, wife of Rep. Kurt Heise (R-Plymouth), is a corporate claims consultant for Amerisure Insurance Co., the news release said. She previously served as an attorney with Catherine W. Heise PLC & Van Belkum & Felty and as a senior trial attorney for Citizens Insurance Co. She will represent the general public and replaces Paulette Lindberg, the news release said.

Kilmark is the lead clinical physician assistant for the St. Joseph Mercy Hospital Emergency Department as part of the Emergency Physicians Medical Group, the news release said. He is a member of the Michigan Academy of Physician Assistants and will represent physician assistants and replaces Gale Edward Easton.

According to the news release, appointees will serve four-year terms expiring Dec. 31, 2015, and are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
