Plymouth to Renovate Old Village Fire Hall

Bid for expansion comes in about $20,000 under budget.

When Plymouth and Northville , an old fire facility in Plymouth’s Old Village will find a new purpose.

The city will reopen the Old Village fire hall on Spring and Holbrook for storage, but not without some renovations.

The city accepted a bid of $30,950 from DMC Consultants that came in about $20,000 under budget to add 14 feet of depth about 32 feet wide to the rear of the facility to house equipment and the department’s aerial platform truck. The city had budgeted $50,000 for the work, which should be completed in time for the switch on Jan. 1.

City Manager Paul Sincock said the company is ready to get going on this as soon as possible. The city commission unanimously accepted the bid. The work includes:

  • Removing the existing rear wall
  • Concrete work
  • Site preparation
  • Block work
  • Matching existing roof lines
  • Removing the old roof and installing a new one
  • Minor electrical work
