Prior political experience: I've always been deeply interested in politics, especially on the local level. I've helped in other people's campaigns but this is my first time as a candidate.
Prior professional experience: I was the assistant news editor and political columnist for the newspaper at Grand Valley State University. I covered university administration and local government in Allendale and Grand Rapids. Currently I am an automotive journalist for Autoline This Week on PBS and AutolineDaily.tv

Why did you decide to seek office?: My desire for Plymouth to reach its full potential played a large part in my decision to run. I want this township to make the most of our current advantages with regard to cost, while fostering innovation and expansion within our limited footprint.

What issues do you see in the township?: Cost of government is always a big concern around here. People want their government to minimize waste and maximize efficiency at all levels. From big programs to more mundane budget items like the cost of keeping the street lights on.

What plans do you have to resolve these issues?: I would like to explore joint purchasing of everyday items with neighboring communities so as to take advantage of economies of scale. Down the road, I want to look at possible service consolidation opportunities with neighboring communities which I think would bring down costs and take advantage of grants made available by the Snyder Administration for such purposes.
