I do not have any political experience. I have worked for two municipalities and am very familiar with the services that are
essential to a community like Plymouth Township. I’m also versed in listening and treating people with respect. This community doesn’t need politicians, it needs regular people, like me, looking to serve its citizens and do what is best for Plymouth Township.

What is your prior professional experience?:

I am a US Army Veteran. I served as a non-commissioned officer for an Airborne Infantry Long Range Surveillance and Reconnaissance unit. I have two degrees; one in Fire Technology and one in Emergency Medical Services. I am currently a Firefighter/Paramedic for another community.

What made you decide to seek office/re-election?:

The fire department issue initially sparked my interest. Then, I began attending board meetings and witnessed the complete lack of respect for the citizens of this community. I’ve seen wasteful spending and the cutting of services.  I’ve seen the embarrassing behavior by the board members and decided that it is time for change.

What issues do you see affecting the township?

  1. The wasteful spending. The current board has made a property purchase for over $600,000 that we could lose to the City of Detroit; they’ve put over $700,000 into a golf course that does not show a profit, they’ve spent tens of thousands of taxpayers’ dollars on propaganda/fliers with misleading information. They’ve done all this while cutting the services offered to us. Why are they spending so much yet say they can no longer provide us with the services we have had?
  2. The Fire Department issue. The current board, with the exception of Joe Bridgman, has voted and laid off 9 firefighters and closed one fire station. The current board has been offered concessions from the firefighters of $700,000. Firefighters have not been allowed to transport which would add $400,000 to $650,000 in revenue, the fire department was also approved for a $1.2 million dollar federal grant, free money/not a loan, and the board has turned it all down!
  3. Disrespect to the citizens. The current board has continually disrespected township citizens at board meetings and the way they do business has tarnished the reputation of this great community.

What is your plan to address those issues?   First, I would make informed decisions. Many issues are discussed at the board meetings with no prior knowledge of the issues at hand. Voting should not be swayed or strong armed by particular board members. Work study groups should be formed and the issues should be discussed prior to the meetings, they can be recorded and available for public viewing.

I would focus our spending on our essential services. The township should not be making land purchases when we are cutting services.  Fiscal responsibility will
provide the necessary funds to reopen our fire station. We have many ways to
increase revenue to offset the cost of our fire department.   We have the ability to do this and still keep our taxes low. I know there are ways to provide superior services while staying within our budget.  I think we need to look at consolidating
services with other communities that provide the same advanced life support
service.

I will treat all citizens with respect. We are all members of this community and should be listened to. I will maintain transparency and keep you informed.  This is an elected position and I will remember that you are depending on me.
