1. Cooling center

is Canton's official cooling center and is open. People can linger in the air-conditioned lobby from 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. today or visit the Parkview room to watch TV, play cards, do puzzles or read, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today. Sign in at the front desk for the Parkview room.

2. Thursday Concert Series

Singer-songwriter Robin Horlock will be onstage with his trio — plan on some easy listening rock and classic rock at 's amphitheater, starting at 7:30 p.m. today. Bring your own blankets, chairs and handheld fans. Free.

3. Go Fly a … Paper Airplane

, 1200 S. Canton Center Rd., is set to host paper airplane flyers of all ages from 11 a.m. to noon today in the library's community room. Participants will compete in long distance races and lean about new designs. Some prizes will be awards. Free.

4. Vintage Baseball Benefits ALS

Baseball fans may want to check out the vintage — and by vintage, we mean using the sport's original 1862 rules — baseball game set for 6:30 p.m. on Heritage Park's Soccer Field No. 1. Donations support ALS research. The Northville Eclipse faces the Detroit Early Riser Base Ball Club. ALS is Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. (Lou Gehrig, for you young'uns and non-sports fans, was a New York Yankee who amassed 23 grand slams in his career — a record that still stands today.) Free, but donations to ALS research welcome.

5. Gas $3.72
