1. Music in the Village

Music in the Village begins at 6:30 p.m. today on the lawn of the historic Cherry Hill School. This week's show features the Rich Eddy's Rockin' Oldies Band. Bring your own blanket or lawn chair. Admission is free.

2. Kevin Cope, Honored Scholar

Did you know that Kevin Cope of Canton is one of this year's Big Ten Conference Distinguished Scholars honorees? The award is given to sports letter-winners in their second year or later of college who maintain a 3.7 or higher grade-point average. Cope, a sophomore at Michigan State University, is majoring in finance and lettered in soccer.

3. Win Photography Prizes

A photo contest is under way at Patch — we're calling it Your Patch of Michigan — and the grand prize is a two-night stay at Mission Point Resort on Mackinac Island, to be awarded in September. 4. Ice Cream Social Alert

 is hosting an old-fashioned ice cream social at the historic Cherry Hill School from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday. Ice cream and a toppings bar will be set up inside the school, and the will provide the music outside. No registration is needed, but supplies are limited. Servings cost $1 each.

5. Gas: $3.67
