Martha Snow Appointed to 3rd Circuit Court by Gov. Rick Snyder

Martha Snow of Northville appointed by governor to vacant judgeship in 3rd District Court in Wayne County.

Gov. Rick Snyder announced he appointed Martha Snow of Northville to a vacant judgeship in the 3rd Circuit Court in Wayne County on Dec. 7, according to a news release.

"Martha Snow is an experienced attorney with decades of service and involvement in her community. I am confident she will be an outstanding addition to the bench in Wayne County," Snyder said.

Snow fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Judge Gershwin Drain. She was a shareholder of the Canton law firm of Xuereb Snow PC. Snow previously was a special assistant attorney general, shareholder of the Martha M. Snow PC law firm, and an associate attorney at Pepper and Associates. She was admitted to the state bar in 1991, and has a law degree from Wayne State University Law School and a bachelor's degree from Central Michigan University.

She brings to the bench 20 years experience as civil trial lawyer representing plaintiffs and defendants primarily in family law matters in Wayne County Circuit Court. Snow is also experienced in collection matters, criminal law experience in non-capital crimes, probate real estate, and other general civil matters. 

In 2008, Snow was a candidate for 35th District Judge and lost the primary election by a narrow margin. As a candidate, she was rated Well Qualified by Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association, and rated Outstanding by Women Lawyers Association of Michigan. She was recently appointed by the Michigan Supreme Court to serve on the Attorney Grievance Commission.

Her community involvement includes currently being on the Schoolcraft College Board of Governors, Northville Township Planning Commissioner and the Community Alliance Credit Union Board of Directors. She was a past member of the Board of Directors for the Canton Chamber of Commerce. Her community service involves being a member of the Canton Rotary, Canton-Plymouth Giving Hope Woman’s Giving Circle, and St. Kenneth Catholic Church. She is a 2005 graduate of Leadership Canton.

Snow must seek election in November 2014 to serve the remainder of the term expiring Jan. 1, 2017.
