Michigan Lawmakers Pass Pink Ribbon License Plate Bills
The special plates would raise funds breast and cervical cancer research.
Bills that would create a "pink ribbon" license plate moved forward last week in both Michigan legislative chambers.
The House version, introduced on Nov. 6 by Rep. Amanda Price, unanimously passed on Dec. 4 and has been referred to the Senate Committee of the Whole. The Senate bill, introduced in January by Sen. Glenn Anderson, was also unanimously approved and has moved to the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure.
If the plates become available, the money generated would go to Amanda's Fund for Breast Cancer Prevention and Treatment, established by the legislature in 2007 in honor of a Michigan woman who had survived three bouts of breast cancer. Amanda's Fund supports the state's breast and cervical cancer control program.
