Sen. Pat Colbeck Lauds Gov. Snyder's State of the State Speech

The state senator says "Michigan is headed on the right track."

State Sen. Pat Colbeck praised Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder for his State of the State speech on Wednesday night.

“It was very good to talk about a Michigan where we’ve got an economy that is getting healthier by the day,” Colbeck said. “We are the sixth-fastest growing economy in the United States. And we’ve added over 110,000 jobs since we took office in January 2011.

“Michigan is headed on the right track,” he said. “It was really good to hear what the governor had to say, and it was good to be able talk about an upbeat message.

“We still have too many people without jobs, and we’re working hard to make sure that we increase the number of jobs available to our citizens in the upcoming year,” said Colbeck, who represents the seventh district which includes Canton Township, Northville, Plymouth, Trenton and Grosse Ile. “I look forward to help leading that effort.”

Snyder said that Michigan is a “role model” because of the state’s growth, according to the Detroit Free Press.

In his speech, Snyder also called for higher gas taxes to help fix Michigan’s roads. The governor said road spending would create 12,000 jobs for the state.

Agreed, Ron. This guy cracks me up! OMG, is he a comedian or what? He is taking credit for the fact that the autos are all hiring? Every person in Michigan knows that the auto industry is very cyclical....We hit bottom in 2009 when GM and Chrysler had to be bailed out and Ford mortgaged everything it owned. Now, they are back on their way up, and Colbeck IS TAKING CREDIT FOR IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And YES, they work for US, thanks Concerned Parent. They are the "associates", Bruce. And they are SO going to be fired at their next "review" in 2014. I keep saying, if I wanted to live in Mississippi I'd move there.

I agree Denise. Snyder even reminded us last night that he is a former CPA. That simply means he can add numbers. So can the rest of Michigan voters and his days are also numbered......

Snyder is an example why business people can't run people/citizens like a business, just like they can't run schools by applying the business model either. He and Patrick Colbeck are victim of being short-sighted. In their efforts to bring us jobs for jobs sake, they forget the workers rights. In their efforts to bring jobs, they forgot that they passed the burden onto the people's pocketbooks. The sacrifices have been too great and policy decisions too one-sided. Now a "birthday tax" for the sake of new roads? Now a $150 decrease in school funding so that they can recover personal property tax relief for businesses? I'm trying to come up with an analogy... It's like shaving my hair for me and buying me a wig, but charging me for it anyway? I've got to work on that.

Sen. Colbeck was dead wrong voting for the Matty Mooron Bridge.Let's hope he can make up for it, by voting for the Biden gun bill.
