Severe Thunderstorm Watch In Effect for Canton Until 6 p.m.

High winds, heavy rainfall and hail possible in Southeast Michigan, including Wayne County.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Canton and Southeast Michigan in general.

The forecast indicates a possibility for powerful wind gusts, heavy rainfall and one-inch-in-diameter hail during this afternoon and evening.

The watch has been issued for 30 Michigan counties including Wayne. According to the weather service, there is also a chance of isolated tornadoes; just after 4:30 a tornado warning was issued in northern Macomb County, near Memphis and Armada.

There is a continued possibility of showers on Thursday and Friday.

It is National Lightening Awareness week and the weather service is reminding people that if you can hear thunder, lightening is possible. The weather service safety motto is "When it roars, get indoors."
