U.S. Rep. Thaddeus McCotter Applauds UAW, Ford Contract

Livonia Congressman says agreement will create jobs in Michigan's 11th Congressional District.

U.S. Representative Thaddeus G. McCotter (R-Livonia) from Michigan's 11th Congressional District has applauded the announcement of a proposed collective bargaining agreement between Ford Motor Company and the United Auto Workers (UAW) in a news release today.

“This agreement between Ford and the UAW is welcome news for American manufacturing and the people of Michigan," he said. "It means more jobs in the United States, more jobs in the state of Michigan, and more jobs in the 11th Congressional District."

He said he is hopeful the ratification process with the UAW Locals’ leaders and members will be successful.

"This contract demonstrates fairness to Ford’s employees and will improve the company’s competitiveness in the United States and abroad,” he said.

According to the news release, the four-year labor contract would provide the addition of 12,000 hourly jobs in Ford’s U.S. manufacturing facilities by 2015, including in-sourcing from Mexico, China and Japan.
