Washington Rejects Ford Road Grant Application

State will not receive federal funding for accident-heavy intersection.

Canton's accident-heavy intersection at Ford Road and Interstate 275 will not receive federal funding to reconfigure the traffic flow, The Canton Eagle is reporting.

According to the report, Washington, D.C. officials who recommend and award the Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER III) grants, rejected the grant application from Canton Township officials in late December. It was the third round of the grant's funding and third effort by Canton officials to fix the traffic flow, the report said.

A to hear concerns about traveling I-275 and generate support by state legislators for funding the project.

Should there be a fourth round of funding, the report said, Canton will reapply for the $20.3 million project that will reshape the intersection to alleviate congestion in an area the report says is one of the most accident-prone in the state.
