16 File for 4 Plymouth-Canton School Board Seats

The last day to register to vote is Oct. 11. The election is set for Nov. 8.

Four seats on Plymouth-Canton Community Schools'  are open and 16 candidates will compete for those positions, according to filings with the .

Incumbents Steven M. Sneideman of Canton, John T. Jackson of Canton, Dianne Gonzalez of Plymouth and Nancy Eggenberger of Canton will face 12 challengers for the election.

Among the school board candidates is current Plymouth City Commissioner John Barrett, who will not seek another term on the Commission.

Also running are Mike Andro, Matt Dame, attorney Stephanie Goecke, a volunteer with the Educational Excellence Foundation; former board president Mark Horvath, Michael Maloney, Abdul Muhiuddin, Clifton R. Nealy, Fiegel parent John Nichols, Sheila Paton, co-founder of the parent group PCCS Legislative Action Network; Michael Redman and Angie Williams-Chehmani. 

People who have recently moved to Canton must register to vote. This can be done by visiting the or Wayne County clerks' offices or a Michigan Secretary of State office. Voters may also register online at the Secretary of State's website.

Absentee ballots are available to voters who are 60 years old or older, or unable to get to a polling place on election day, or who are experiencing a temporary or permanent handicap which prevents getting to the polls. A written request to the Canton Township Clerk's office is required for an absentee ballot.
