Canton Library Offers Snow Day Activities Today

Impromptu gaming session aimed at children of all ages.

“We just decided to the video gaming this morning. I imagine as the day goes on, more people will want to get out of the house,” said Laurie Golden, library spokeswoman, adding that the library “was packed yesterday” when most schools and many offices were closed for the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday.

Golden said equipment includes a handful of Wii gaming systems with individual monitors as well as on big-screen projector view.

“The big screen is used for kids who are playing Mario Kart, because up to four can play,” she said.

Other games include bowling, golf and Guitar Hero, she said, “but we’ll probably put out some board games as well.”

No registration is needed for the games and there are no time minimums, so the games will work even “if you want to come up and play for an hour,” she said.

The gaming room has space for about 50 people.

The program continues until 4 p.m. today at the library, 1200 S. Canton Center; 734-397-0999.
