Stars, Moons & Planets: The Planet Mars & Asteroids

NASA has designated 2011 as the Year of the Solar system.  In recognition of this designation, Mike Best, our resident astronomer, makes way through the solar system in monthly presentations scheduled for 3rd Mondays.Monday, May 16, 7:00 p.m.   Mars & Asteroids.Mars is the most talked about and written about planet in the solar system, and a favorite setting for sci-fi movies.  Mike will filter out fact from fiction as he shares dozens of images of The Red Planet.Asteroids will probably be visited by humans before we make our way to Mars.   Discussion will focus on where asteroids came from and why they may be of great value to us.Sponsored by Friends of the Library.
