Former Plymouth-Canton Teacher Under Investigation for Interacting with Student via Email

The East Middle School teacher resigned after allegations were made in March.

The City of Plymouth Police Department is conducting an ongoing investigation of a former East Middle School teacher who resigned his position this past March as a result of allegations that he exchanged questionable emails with a student in the district.

The emails were brought to the Plymouth-Canton Community School District's attention by the student's parents in March, according to Mary Holaly, Interim Director for Community Relations.

The issue resurfaced this past weekend when Plymouth-Canton Schools sent home a letter to parents to notify them of new concerns between a teacher and a different student.

However, police say it is unknown if there are any additional students involved in the incident.

The City of Plymouth Police Department searched the teacher's home on March 6 and seized electronics, which currently are being analyzed by the Michigan State Police Crime Lab, Lt. Lt. Jamie Grabowski said.

Search warrants were also executed on internet providers.

Grabowski said that he is currently going through 10,000 emails between the two separate email accounts of the student and teacher. That number does not reflect the amount of emails exhanged between the teacher and student. The case is ongoing as police continue to seek evidence of the allegations against the teacher.

Plymouth-Canton Community Schools released the following statement:
