New Morning Raises $120,000 at 36th Annual Auction

Plymouth school earns support from community, parents at annual benefit.

, a pre-K–8 school in Plymouth, held its 36th annual benefit auction Saturday at Laurel Manor in Livonia, making it the longest-running event of its kind in Western Wayne County, a news release from the school said.

More than 400 revelers, including guests in full Venetian costume, filled Laurel Manor for the ‘Grande Carnevale’-themed evening aimed at supporting the school.

Community members donated more than $120,000 to benefit the school, the news release said.

Guests at the auction donated an additional $4,400 toward the school’s Technology Fund to provide new technological tools and training for the students use in the upcoming school year, the news release said.

Elaine Kennedy, the Head of School and the school’s founder, said in the news release she was impressed with the turnout.

“I am continually humbled by the generosity of our local community. They have shown that they value quality education and they recognize that New Morning School delivers on that value,” Kennedy said.
