P-CEP National Honor Society Seeking Nominations for Annual Community Benefit 5K

The nominations must be for a local family or individual living within the boundaries of the Plymouth-Canton Community School District.

The Plymouth-Canton Educational Park’s (P-CEP) National Honor Society will host its fourth annual 5K at the beginning of May on the high school campus.

The event was created in 2011 in honor of 16-year-old P-CEP student, Jesse Lindlbauer, when a sinus infection turned into an abscess which ruptured, causing a traumatic brain injury. The SJ5K run was created in order to bring community support to the family and raise money to help defray medical expenses.

After the success of the SJ5K the first year, National Honor Society members decided to make it an annual event. Over the last two years it has continued to provide support for local families.

Last year, the event brought the community together to support Salem High School’s Max Merget, who has battled brain cancer since he was 3-years-old; Plymouth High School’s Erinne Williams who lives with Spinal Muscular Atrophy and Jayden Gohl, a local 4-year-old who was born with hydrocephalus, a rare medical condition in which fluid builds up in the brain.

The SJ5K helped the three families pay for medical bills, support cancer research and gave them the support of a great community.

This year, National Honors Society is once again looking for a family to support with the race. The goal is to select a local family or individual (defined as living within the boundaries of the Plymouth-Canton Community School district) who, as a result of unforeseen life-altering circumstances, finds themselves with a specific need (outside of normal living expenses) which could not be attained without the proceeds of the SJ5K.

Nominations will be considered by the SJ5K Committee. The nomination form and other information regarding the race can be found at SJ5k.org.

The nomination form must be returned by Jan. 21, 2014 by emailing it to beth.savalox@pccsmail.net or by mail to:
