Retired PCCS Administrator Fills In During Search for New Canton High School Principal

Canton High School Principal Carrie Lawler has resigned to accept a new position with Rochester Schools.

Plymouth-Canton Community Schools began its first round of interviewing Thursday for a new Canton High School principal.

Carrie Lawler, who began as an associate principal at Canton High School in 2009 and transitioned to principal last year, resigned from Plymouth-Canton Schools to accept a new position as the executive director of secondary education with Rochester Schools. Friday is her final day at The Park. 

The administrative vacancy at The Park will be temporarily filled by former East Middle School Associate Principal Jerry Sullivan, who retired from the district in 2002. 

Sullivan will begin on Oct. 7 and serve in the capacity of the principal until a new principal has been hired.

There were 41 applicants who applied for the position. The first round interview was conducted by members of the Park and the Central Office administration.  

The second round of interviews will take place on Oct. 7 at 5 p.m. at Canton High School, with a panel comprised of all stakeholders: parents, students, administrators, teachers, and support staff. The interview will be in a public setting, and anyone who is interested will be able to join the audience, with a few questions being taken from the audience, as well.
