State Rep. Kurt Heise Reads to Fourth-Graders for 'March is Reading Month'

The Plymouth Republican chooses an appropriate title—'House Mouse, Senate Mouse'—in his appearance at Isbister Elementary.

State Rep. Kurt Heise (R-Plymouth) made a special visit to on Monday in honor of "March is Reading Month."

Heise, who represents Michigan's 20th district including Plymouth, Northville, Wayne and part of Canton, read the book House Mouse, Senate Mouse to Marsha Fistler's fourth-grade class.

After he read the book, which is about a mouse congress that attempts to pass a bill to establish a national cheese, Heise talked to the class a little about the legislative process.

He also asked the students if they had any questions for him about being politician.

Among the questions the students asked were whether Heise had a favorite law, what his favorite thing is about his job and what made him "pick his job" as state representative.

"I thought it would be a good opportunity to use my knowledge from working in government for many years for something good," he said.
