Video: 'Super Jess' Lindlbauer Honored at Plymouth-Canton Game

Jesse Lindlbauer, who survived a ruptured brain abscess in 2010, honored as Plymouth's 'Hero of the Week.'

Chants of "We love Jesse" rang through the stands at the Plymouth-Canton football field Friday as Jesse Lindlbauer, flanked by family members and football players, was honored as the Plymouth Wildcats' "Hero of the Week."

In December 2010, Lindlbauer was discovered unresponsive by his mother. After he was rushed to the hospital, his parents learned he had a sinus infection that developed into an abscess in his brain, which then ruptured during emergency surgery.

Lindlbauer, then a 10th-grader at suffered brain trauma and other complications. His survival has earned him the moniker "" in the Plymouth-Canton community.

The ovation Lindlbauer received before Friday's game between Plymouth and Canton was special for his dad, Dave Lindlbauer, but it was hardly the first time the community has reached out to his son.

"It's been like this since December," the elder Lindlbauer said. "It's been awesome."
