Athletes: Why Do You Play? Answer and Win!

The Michigan High School Athletic Association is hosting a video contest and giving away tickets.

Hey, student-athletes: It’s time to put down the bats and 9-irons and pick up the video camera.

The Michigan High School Athletic Association wants to know, “Why do you play high school sports?”

Do you love the camaraderie? Or maybe it’s the edge of a tight match? Or perhaps it’s a free way to stay in shape and get a summer tan?

Whatever the reason, let the MHSAA know and your video could be showcased to thousands.

The group is hosting a contest, where creativity is being encouraged. The best videos will be compiled and shown at MHSAA championship games throughout the 2011-12 high school season. The top three winners also will receive tickets to a MHSAA championship game of their choice next year.

Here are the guidelines put together by the MHSAA:

  1. Get your camera, press record and answer the question: “Why do you play?”
  2. Post the video to YouTube, and tag it with “MHSAA.”
  3. Email the YouTube link to SAC@mhsaa.com. The video will then be posted on the MHSAA's YouTube Playlist.
  4. Grab a friend and repeat steps 1-3.
