Canton High School Hosts Great Lakes Invitational Saturday

The marching band competition will include a performance from the Plymouth-Canton Marching Band.

The award-winning Plymouth-Canton Marching Band (PCMB) will host and perform at the Great Lakes Invitational marching band competition at Canton High School on Saturday starting at 4:45 p.m.

Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 students and seniors.

The Plymouth Fife and Drum Corp and the Plymouth-Canton Community Schools’ seventh and eighth grade music students will begin the show with the National Anthem at 4:45 p.m. Afterwards, nine bands will compete and entertain the crowd with more than two hours of musical performances.

Scheduled to perform are the high school marching bands from Woodhaven,
Farmington, South Lyon, Southgate Anderson, Lakeland, Troy Athens, Livonia Franklin, Novi, and of course, Plymouth-Canton.

A performance of Inferno, the Plymouth-Canton Marching Band’s 2013 show, will end the evening with a 7 p.m. performance. Inferno is a musically and visually exciting show based upon Dante's epic poem, "The Divine Comedy," the journey through hell from flame to inferno.

In addition, it will be homecoming for several PCMB alumni, who also will perform at the Great Lakes Invitational. The Alumni Band will be directed by former PCMB Band Director and special guest Glen Adsit.
