Olympics: Canton's Allison Schmitt Wins Silver in 400-Meter Freestyle

Schmitt sets U.S. record in earning second medal of 2012 , but finishes a half-stoke behind France's Camille Muffat.

Allison Schmitt of Canton earned silver Sunday in the 400-meter freestyle at the Olympic Games in London.

Schmitt swam to a U.S.-record 4:01.77 time, a half-stroke behind eventual gold medalist Camille Muffat of France, who placed first with a time of 4 minutes, 1.45 seconds, according to the Detroit News

According to the News, Muffat and Schmitt could have another duel in the 200-meter freestyle event.
