Duck Bus Stops in Plymouth for Art in the Park

The Duck Tape Rolls Across America Tour will come to Plymouth this weekend for Art in the Park, allowing festival-goers to explore the Duck Bus and discover many uses for duct tape.

The Duck Bus of the Duck Tape Rolls Across America Tour will travel to Downtown Plymouth this weekend for Art in the Park, stopping on South Main St. at the corner of Wing to engage festival-goers.

The Duck Bus is a 31-foot bright green RV that showcases Duck brand duct tape, allowing consumers to see all that duct tape can be used for.

Patti Sack, the media manager for ShurTech Brands, LLC, said, “The bus is bright and engaging. When people see it, they are going to gravitate to it. It has our duck on it, our brand mascot, and it’s big and colorful. You can’t miss it.”

This is the first time the Duck Bus will be featured at Art in the Park. It will be an interactive experience for festival-goers, displaying duct tape in innovative forms.

“The inside of the RV features everything Duck brand duct tape, showcasing all things made out of duct tape, such as a dress from Season 11 Project Runway and a tuxedo,” Sack said.

There will be a TV and an iPad station in the RV as well. The TV will enable people to learn how duct tape is made and become informed about all of the current Duck promotions. Festival-goers can use the iPad station to find a duct tape craft that is featured on the bus and email it to themselves.

“Outside the bus, we will have a photo booth where people can take a photos and a crafting station where people can make bracelets and wristlets out of their favorite pattern of duct tape,” said Sack.

The Duck Bus will also give festival-goers the opportunity to buy Duck brand’s most popular duct tape designs, prints, and colors though out the weekend, including duct tape that is exclusive to the bus tour.

“We are bringing in most of our Michigan college teams, including MSU and U of M duct tape, cotton candy, and Despicable Me, to name just a few. We have over 200 colors, designs, and licenses in our portfolio, and the bus showcases pretty much all of them,” Sack said.

This is the second year of this Duck Bus tour, and the company has decided to change its direction since last year. It is not only focusing on retailers and festivals, but the tour is also visiting summer camps in different communities across the U.S. for educational purposes.

“The tour started in May with a Las Vegas trade show, traveling from Las Vegas to Texas, and Texas to Arkansas.  After traveling back to Ohio for a break, it heads toward Michigan, Chicago, Wisconsin, Indianapolis, St. Louis, Cincinnati, Columbus, Pittsburg, Boston, Philadelphia, and Baltimore. Then, the bus will return home to Ohio and rest for the winter,” said Sack.

Sack believes people of all ages will enjoy the Duck Bus at the festival.

“They are all surprised at what duct tape has become. We like to say we have taken it from ‘tool to cool,’ as a fashion or craft medium. You are only limited by your imagination when it comes to duct tape,” Sack said.
