Fans Turned Away from Packed Compuware Arena for Red Wings Scrimmage

Compuware Arena fills up quickly as team offers free admission to Red vs. White game.

Red Wings fans might have quelled any lingering doubts Tuesday about whether fans would come back with the NHL's lockout-shortened season.

Officials from Compuware Arena in Plymouth Township had to turn away fans at the parking lot Tuesday as the venue filled up for the team's free Red vs. White game, featuring the current Red Wings roster and prospects.

"We talked about the possibility of that happening," John Hahn, the Red Wings' senior director of communications told the Detroit News.

The team's Red vs. White game and training camp practices took place this week at Compuware Arena, as the Red Wings' home venue, Joe Louis Arena, was booked for auto show events.
