Plymouth Whalers Win OHL Playoff Game

The Whalers beat the Kitchener Rangers. Tonight's game is in Plymouth.

The Plymouth Whalers scored a 6-5 win Friday over the Kitchener Rangers, according to a Whalers report. Friday's game, the first in the Ontario Hockey League Western Conference playoff series, was in Kitchener, Ontario.

The second game is at today at the Compuware Arena, 14900 Beck Rd., Plymouth. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m.

Friday's win was led by first star Jamie Devane and third star Tyler Brown who each delivered a goal and two assists. Beau Schmitz, Stefan Noesen, Garrett Meurs and Dario Trutmann scored a goal apiece. Plymouth goalie Scott Wedgewood stopped 46-of-51 shots.

Ranger Gabriel Landeskog scored two goals and made an assist.  Matt Tipoff scored twice and Michael Catenacci scored once and made two assists.

After today's game, the teams return to Kitchener for a 7 p.m. Monday match. Game four is set in Plymouth on Wednesday at 7 p.m. As many as three more games could be played in the series and are tentatively scheduled for Friday at 7:30 p.m. in Kitchener; Saturday at 7:05 p.m. in Plymouth and Monday at 7 p.m. in Kitchener.
