Prep Football Roundup: Salem Closes in on Playoff Berth

Rocks, Wildcats, Chiefs notch Friday victories.

Salem 14, South Lyon 7

Salem is a game away from a state playoff berth after Friday's 14-7 home win against South Lyon, according to the Canton Observer

The Rocks (5-1 overall; 3-1 KLAA Central) will try to earn their sixth win, which would clinch a playoff berth, on Oct. 5 against Livonia Stevenson.

Rocks coach Kurt Britnell told the Observer both quarterback Jake Deprez and wideout Michael Hoover were "nicked up" in the win, which leaves the tandem questionable for Week 7.

Plymouth 48, Wayne Memorial 0

The Plymouth Wildcats also are one win from a playoff berth after a 48-0 rout Friday over Wayne Memorial, according to the Canton Observer.

Wildcats quarterback Jamarl Eiland tallied 220 yards and two TDs on Friday, the Observer reported, as Plymouth improved to 5-1 overall and 3-1 in the KLAA South.

Canton 35, Livonia Franklin 34

The Canton Chiefs spoiled Livonia Franklin's 50th birthday party after a goal-line stop on the Patriots' two-point conversion bid to hang on for a 35-34 win, according to the Canton Observer.

The Chiefs improved to 4-2 overall and 3-1 in the KLAA South, within two games of an automatic playoff berth with three weeks remaining in the regular season.
