Registration Open for Plymouth-Canton Little League 2014 Season

Don't wait too long to register for the 2014 season or your player might end up on a wait list.

Plymouth-Canton Little League is now accepting registration for players for its 2014 season.

In fact, registration opened on Black Friday this year, the earliest ever, according to Maria Kuechler, who blogs on Plymouth-Canton Patch on behalf of the league.

This upcoming spring will be the league's 11th year of operation. It is open to kids, ages 5-14.

"One neat thing is for 8U and up, there is a draft, so it's not like teams that have always stuck together will stick together or just because you know the coach you're going to be on that team or anything," Kuechler said. "All the kids show up at a facility, get rated, so that each team has an equal number of equally rated players. So you're actually playing against an even match as opposed to there being one team that's stacked with superstars, one team with newbies and that kind of thing."

Last year, the league had a little less than 400 players, making up 32 teams.

According to Kuechler, the league is planning for a slightly higher number in 2014 because of the addition of a Senior League Division (15/16U) for players who have aged out of the Junior Division.

Plymouth-Canton Little League was awarded for its safety awareness and preparedness during the 66th Little League Baseball World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania this past August.
