Salem Boys Defeat South Lyon in Cross Country, 36-23

Senior Steve McEvilly leads Rocks to win.

The Boys Cross Country team defeated South Lyon on Tuesday 36-23, according to coach Steve Aspinall.

The Rocks were led by senior Steve McEvilly, who won the race. Seniors Michael Karizat and Riley Doxtader also ran strong races, Aspinall said. 

Also running in varsity positions were junior Donovan Drouillard, freshman Chaz Jeffress, senior Jeremy Drouillard and sophomore Noah Engerer. Salem now is 1-0 in the Central Division and races again this Saturday at the DeLaSalle Invitational.

"The times weren't the fastest, but I really liked the effort put forth," Aspinall said in an email. "Island Lake (South Lyon/South Lyon East home course) is a fairly challenging course and we responded well to running our first dual meet of the season."
