Salem Girls Finish 19th in State Swim Final; Farmington Hills Mercy Wins Title

Division 1

Farmington Hills Mercy extended its dominance to Division 1 this season, winning the team championship on Saturday at Eastern Michigan University with a score of 258. The Marlins had brought home four straight Division 2 titles before being bumped up this season.

Saline finished in second place with 243.5 points and Bloomfield Hills Marian finished in a distant third place with 165 points.

finished 19th out of 30 with 28 points, led by senior Lauren Seroka's seventh-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:04.47.

Division 2

When Mercy moved up to Division 1, the team most excited about the news might have been Holland.

The school had finished runner-up to the Marlins for the last three straight seasons. This year, with Mercy out of the way it was able to run away with the Division 2 team state title at the Holland Aquatics Center on Saturday.

It brought home individual titles in eight of the 11 swimming events on Saturday. Holland finished the meet with 419 points ahead of second place Seaholm (288 points) and Groves (216 points).
