Update: All Remaining Canton Cup Games Canceled

organizers canceled all remaining matches.

The 29th annual youth soccer tournament has been plagued with weather problems and organizers had added Monday to the normal 3-day schedule after some fields proved too soggy to use for Friday's opening day. After Sunday's storms, which caused the cancellation of the afternoon matches, many of the fields were again unusable.

Traffic was very heavy along Ford Road, especially eastbound lanes approaching I-275.

Canton Cup competitors Howell Revolution 02, Under-9 Boys Division "luckily finished their last game this morning (at 10:30 a.m.)," Melissa Stachovich wrote in an email Sunday, adding that the team "did great — we were in Tan Bracket Divison B. They won one and lost two."

Her son, Keagan Stewart, received the team's game ball "for all his hard work and dedication," Stachovich wrote.
