's girls soccer team topped Plymouth Monday night to win the Kensington conference championship, 7-2.

The Mustangs will take on the Lakes conference champion Hartland Eagles for the Kensington Lakes Activities Association league championship Wednesday. Northville coach Eric Brucker attributes the win to "an offensive explosion in the second half."

He added, "Rain all through the first half made for a quick/sloppy field. The rain stopped by halftime and the skies cleared by the conclusion of the game."

Here's a game recap from coach Brucker:

Sophomore Mustang Jamie Cheslik led a charging Mallory Weber early in the game with a short through pass. Weber juked the goalie to the left and passed the ball in the back of the net.

At the 21-minute mark, Plymouth's Junior standout Madi Lewis played a cross from the left hand side to the back post where Sophomore Sydney Rouse controlled the pass and finished with a goal. Plymouth took the lead minutes later when Zoe Foster plays a cross from the right hand side to the back post. Junior Morgan Klabunde fired the cross into the near post net.

A cross was played into Plymouth's goal mouth at the 29-minute mark. The ball was miss-hit by a Plymouth defender resulting in an own-goal. Junior Emily Bush from Northville was credited with the goal. With three seconds to play in the half, Junior Gabbie Guibord escaped from a late scrum of a corner kick to find the back of the net. Mallory Weber had the assist from the corner kick.

Northville led at halftime 3-2.

Senior Mallory Weber fired a shot past the Wildcats keeper of a slotted ball from Cheslik, her second assist of the night. Soon after, Weber registers the hatrick after receiving a cross from junior Gabbie Guibord in the middle of field. Weber shot from 22 yards out hit nothing but nylon.

At the 56-minute mark, Weber collected her second assist of the night when she laid a perfect cross from the right hand flank to the feet of Sophomore Megan Buckingham. Her two touch shot beat the keeper to the near post.

Weber get her fourth goal of the night on the third assist from Cheslik. On a thru ball, Weber collected the pass and fired a shot from 17 yards out on a roper passed the Plymouth keeper.

"This was a great team performance tonight. The defense had to make some adjustments to contain Madi (Lewis) and her off the ball runs. Once we settled down in the back, our offense just took off," Brucker said.

"Mallory was able to get high percentage shots on target and the team reaped the benefits. Our midfield was able to win the 50/50 balls and help us to maintain possesion. The offense communicated and worked well with each other to create quality scoring opportunities. We were able to get everyone that was medically capable of playing into the game. I'm very pleased with tonight's performance and look forward to representing the Kensington Conference in the Association cross-over on Wednesday."
