It would make sense for the Plymouth Whalers to rest a day after an impressive 6-2 victory over Erie in the home opener Saturday night at Compuware Arena.
But that's not the Whaler Way.
The Whalers spent part of Sunday walking with the We Do It! For Bobby team in the Walk 'n' Roll for ALS at Kensington Metro Park.

The entire Whalers team walked the entire 3.5-mile trail winding through Kensington Metro Park. The team— dressed in its blue jerseys — cut a distinctive path and were highly noticeable to the rest of the teams in attendance. The Whalers are unfailingly cheerful in public.
Although former captain Chris Terry is now with the Charlotte Checkers, he has left an long-lasting impression with the Suvoy family. It didn't take long for current captain Beau Schmitz to strike up a friendly conversation with Bob Suvoy, the father of Bobby Suvoy. Schmitz and Suvoy are avid hunters.

BERARD SKATES IN CBC'S BATTLE OF THE BLADES: Whalers alum Bryan Berard (1994-96) — the only player in franchise history to be selected first overall in the NHL Entry Draft — has resurfaced as a contestant on CBC's Battle of the Blades.
The program is Canada's answer to ABC's Dancing With the Stars.
