Whalers Vince Trocheck Named Ontario Hockey League Player of the Week

Trocheck, 19, had nine points in four games last week.

Release from the Ontario Hockey League:

Toronto, Ontario – The Ontario Hockey League today announced that Vince Trocheck of the Plymouth Whalers is the OHL Player of the Week for the week ending January 27 after leading the league with nine points in four games including four goals and five assists with a plus-minus rating of plus-5.

Trocheck helped the Whalers earn three wins last week collecting three points in each victory as one of eight players on the club to record at least five points in the four-game stretch.  Last Monday he recorded three assists as part of a 7-1 win over the Erie Otters, then on Thursday night scored twice and picked up an assist as first star of an 8-2 win over the Windsor Spitfires.  He was held off the scoresheet Friday against the Sarnia Sting but the Whalers earned a point in the 5-4 shootout loss.  Trocheck and the Whalers rebounded Saturday grabbing a 6-2 win over the Sting with Trocheck earning second star honours with a pair of goals and one assist.
