The Detroit Tigers' postseason journey continues Wednesday in San Francisco with Game 1 of the World Series, beginning at 8:07 p.m.

World Series records: The Tigers won titles in 1935, 1945, 1968 and 1984. The Giants franchise -- in New York and San Francisco -- won titles in 1905, 1921, 1922, 1933, 1954 and 2010.

Starting pitchers: 2011 American League Cy Young winner and MVP Justin Verlander, (17-6, 2.64 ERA regular season; 3-0, 0.74 ERA postseason), vs. Giants' Barry Zito, (15-8, 4.15 ERA regular season; 1-0, 1.74 ERA postseason) 

TV: WJBK-TV (Fox 2), starting at 8 p.m., with pregame coverage beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Radio: WXYT-FM (97.1 The Ticket) will carry the radio broadcast live.

Online: ESPN Radio will offer a free audio stream. Subscribers to MLB.TV's Postseason Package can watch a delayed broadcast beginning 90 minutes after its conclusion (only international viewers can watch it live, due to Fox's broadcast rights), or can stream the audio live.

Yes, game time on FOX at 8:00, but, coverage begins at 7:30 pm They'll be showing the highlights of the last 2 weeks for both teams and will introduce you (those not having watched any of the NLCS) to the Giants players. Get used to the names Panda and Buster. Go Tiger's.

Mark - thanks for the info. I added that to the schedule. Let's hope we hear the names Panda and Buster in the same sense we heard A-Rod's name last series.

Tonight’s game has two great pitchers going at it with the always-dominant Verlander, and a resurgent Barry Zito. I can’t wait for tonight’s game and I’ve already set a reminder for it through my Hopper’s GameFinder app. A coworker at DISH told me about this feature, and it’s helped me keep up with when baseball playoff games have been on TV. The series is going to come down to quality pitching, and both teams are well-stocked in that department!
