Allison Schmitt Draws a Crowd in Canton Tonight During Olympic Homecoming

Swimmer says she will have to learn to adjust to hero status.

Being an Olympic hero hasn't sunk in for Canton's Allison Schmitt.

Not yet at least.

After winning five medals - including three golds at the Summer Olympics in London, the 22-year-old swimmer has become a familiar face. She signs autographs, poses for photos - all while displaying her omni-present smile.

That smile was on full display when she returned to Canton for a homecoming rally at . She admits she has always dreamed about being famous - but now that she is, she doesn't plan to change. Even though life surely will.

"I don't know what to expect - I'm expecting to go back and be the same exact person," said Schmitt, who will return to the University of Georgia on Thursday. "I don't know if I will be, I don't know if people will look at me different. But I'm the same person - if I came back with no medals or if if came back with five medals - I'm still the same person and I hope people treat me the same."
