Do LaRouche Democrats' Obama-as-Hitler Signs Cross the Line?

Supports of Bill Roberts for Congress appeared at Art in the Park this weekend, sporting signs depicting President Barack Obama as Adolf Hitler.

A group of LaRouche Democrats — a group purporting to be Democrats abiding by the principles of U.S. Labor Party leader Lyndon LaRouche — have appeared on downtown Plymouth sidewalks this weekend for Art in the Park, sporting signs depicting President Barack Obama as Adolf Hitler.

The group, who supports (D-Redford) for former U.S. Rep. Thaddeus McCotter's vacant seat in Michigan's 11th Congressional District, frequently demonstrates outside the building in downtown Plymouth, displaying the same Obama-as-Hitler signage.

The group is not affiliated with Plymouth's Art in the Park. Because the city's sidewalks are public property, the group's demonstrations are constitutionally protected.

The group drew some outrage from passersby at the festival who engaged the demonstrators in debate over the rhetoric of its signage.

Bill Roberts is facing Dr. Syed Taj (D-Canton) and Kerry Bentivolio (R-Milford), as well as write-in candidates Nancy Cassis (R-Novi) and Drexel Morgan (R-Canton) for U.S. Congress representing Michigan's 11th Congressional District.

What do you think? Do these signs cross the line? Do they belong at a family-friendly festival such as Art in the Park?
