Despite soaring temperatures, local favorites draw large crowd to Kellogg Park.

Thousands of music fans braved the sweltering heat Friday night to watch local favorites Steve King and the Dittilies perform hits from the 1960s and '70s at in downtown Plymouth.

The concert was part of the 's weekly concert series.

Seemingly aware of the heat's energy-draining effect on attendees, the band came prepared with its own pre-recorded applause and laugh tracks so, as frontman Steve King humorously put it, fans can enjoy the music without moving a muscle.

That message didn't stop downtown Plymouth's resident dancing man from strutting his stuff in front of the stage, as is customary at downtown concerts. Armed with his cane and trademark suspenders and decorative sunglasses, Harvell kept moving throughout the two-hour performance to the delight of fans.

Hits ranged from The Tokens' "The Lion Sleeps Tonight," Ray Charles' "Georgia on My Mind" and Santana's "Smooth."

The performance marked the second Plymouth appearance this week by the Dittilies; The band played through the heat Wednesday on the same mobile stage at as part of the township's .
