Warm weather is here and there are plenty of summer events planned this year in the Plymouth-Canton area.

From Liberty Fest in Canton to Art in the Park in Plymouth — and a variety of outdoor concerts in between — the area has plenty to offer during the summer months.

Liberty Fest kicks off at Heritage Park in Canton with a carnival sneak preview. An adult beverage tent for patrons 21 years or older also will be available. Fifty Amp Fuse takes the Canton LIVE! Stage from 7:30-10 p.m. Zumba will be offered from 7:30-9 p.m.  at the amphitheater.

June 15

Canton Liberty Fest, Day 2

  • 1-10 p.m.

Day 2 of Liberty Fest is Kids Night, featuring magician Jason Abbott, who will perform from 5:30-7:30 p.m. A screening of Disney’s The Muppets  will take place at dusk in the Heritage Park Amphitheater. Bring a blanket or lawn chairs if you plan on attending the film. Tours also will be given of the Canton Fire Station #1, 1100 S. Canton Center Road, including the traveling 9-11 Memorial that will be on display at the station. The adult beverage tent will be open from 1-10 p.m.

Live events at the Amphitheater includes: Swing City Big Band (5:15 p.m.), Earth Angels (6:45 p.m.), Olympian Chung Do Kwan demonstration (8 p.m.), and pre-movie music and games (8:30 p.m.).

The Canton LIVE! Stage will host the Deep Fried Pickle Project  (5:30 p.m., featuring an array of homemade monster instruments), 15-year-old local singing phenom Dymond Harding (6:30 p.m.) and Annabelle Road (8 p.m.).

The BluesCasters will bring their bluesy tunes to Kellogg Park in downtown Plymouth at 7 p.m. for Music in the Air.

June 16

Day 3 of Liberty Fest will host Taste of Canton all day as the carnival runs from 10 a.m.-11 p.m. The adult beverage tent is open from 11 a.m.-10:30 p.m.

Appearing at the Amphitheater on June 16 is: Forever After Productions and Dance BEAT (noon), Canton Chiefettes JV and varsity (1:30 p.m.), Central City Dance (2 p.m.), Jenney Gordon Batom Academy demo (3 p.m.), Pat Predd (5:30 p.m.) and headliners SHOUT! A Fantastic Tribute to the Fab Four (8 p.m.). The day will be capped with fireworks at dusk.

Michigan’s second-largest public art festival marks its 33rd year in downtown Plymouth, welcoming more than 400 artists from around the United States. Among the festivities are One Love Reggae Band, performing from noon-4 p.m. Friday at the corner of Ann Arbor Trail and Forest Avenue. You can also catch some live performance art: The living mural will return throughout the three-day event and George Tait’s Living Statue will be on display from noon-4 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

2012 Grammy-nominated keyboardist Nate Harasim will perform July 13 at Sam’s Club in Canton.

July 14

Michigan’s second-largest public art festival continues July 14. Among the festivities are jazz band Zamar, performing from noon-6:30 p.m. Saturday at the corner of Ann Arbor Trail and Forest Avenue. Performance art also will be display throughout the weekend: The living mural will be on display and George Tait’s Living Statue will confound passersby from noon-4 p.m. each day of the fair.

July 15

Art in the Park wraps up July 15 with the return of One Love Reggae Band, performing from noon-4 p.m. at the corner of Ann Arbor Trail and Forest Avenue. You can also catch some live performance art: The living mural will still be visible throughout the day and George Tait’s Living Statue will be downtown from noon-4 p.m.

The Fun Guys will bring their ‘50s-‘80s classic rock sounds to the lawn of historic Cherry Hill School in Canton from 7-8:30 p.m. as part of Canton’s Monday Night Music in the Village.

Departing from The Inn at St. John's, classic cars and motorcycles, pre-1970, will drive the countryside with a stop at Concours' Director, Richard Kughn's Collection. The tour will continue with the final stop for lunch at Mill Race Village in Northville. The buildings at the village will be open for touring. Cost: $100 for car and first driver, $35 for passengers.

On Friday evening, Concours d’Elegance visitors can preview select automotive paintings and sculptures in a special showing prior to the Concours show on July 29. The 34th Annual Concours d’Elegance exhibition takes place from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sunday at the Inn at St. John’s. Admission is $25, which includes free parking, shuttle service and program book. Children 12 years and younger are free with paid adult admission. Upscale classic cars will be on display on the grounds of the venue.
