Canton Real Estate Market Update for December

Here at The Bittinger Team, we get pretty excited when there is good news to report about the Canton real estate market.  And we are happy to report that it was a rather good month on the Canton, Michigan, real estate market, especially if you were a home seller.

Although the number of home sales decreased, the average home sales price increased significantly!

Here’s a look at recent market activity in Canton, based on information obtained from Trulia:

• Currently there are 429 resale and new homes on the market, including 317 distressed properties.
• The average price per square foot for a Canton home is $84 right now.
• When compared to last year, that price has decreased by 3.4 percent.
• Between August and October, the median sales price for a Canton home was $203,151, which represents a 27.2 percent increase when compared to the previous quarter.
• When compared to the year before, the median sales price has increased by 17.7 percent, from  $172,570 to $203,151.
• Meanwhile, the number of home sales dropped by 30.9 percent.
• During the week ending November 23, the average listing price for Canton homes was $198,018, down about 0.2 percent when compared to the week before.
• During that same week, the median sales price for a 2-bedroom home was $76,986. And the median sales price for a 3-bedroom Canton home was $130,000.

Although overall home sales have dropped, home sellers should be pleased to see that home sales prices are on the rise.
