Tips for the Second-Time Bride

Tips from a Livonia wedding planner on planning a wedding for the second time bride.

These days we are seeing more and more second-time brides and grooms hitting the wedding scene. Just because you have been through it before doesn't mean you should play down the importance of your big day. This time around you can make sure it is exactly what you want without the pressure from your family and friends who said you "had" to do things a certain way the first time. Keep these things in mind when planning a second wedding :

  • Listen to Yourself - This is your second chance to make your wedding exactly how you want it! Shut out opinions from family and friends and do everything the way you want, where you want it, and who you want there. Don't get too hung up on traditions and make it about you and your fiancee.
  • Venue - If you've always dreamed of a certain spot for your wedding now is the time to make it happen! You have earned and deserve to have your wedding how you want it rather then how everyone else wants it.
  • *Children - It is very common for a bride entering a second marriage to have children. No matter how young or old they are you should try and incorporate them into your wedding. This is a good way to help them feel like they are part of the union between you and your soon-to-be husband and will help build a better family relationship
  • Savings- Most couples spend their entire savings on a first wedding, but the second time around you realize there are other important things to be putting your money towards then an extravagant wedding. Try to do things yourself (ex. invitations, decoration's etc) to cut back on the cost of your wedding.
