Bake Sale Succeeds for Homeward Bound Rescuers

No-kill pet shelter volunteers sold cookies for people as well as for dogs.

The first-ever bake sale held by Homeward Bound Rescue League is officially a success, according to league spokeswoman Jenna Marcum. She said nearly $1,200 was donated to the pet rescue group.

Volunteers made and donated cookies and other sweets as well as homemade dog treats. On Friday and again on Sunday, Homeward Bound helpers worked at tables set up inside , selling all the items.

Marcum said she and other volunteers planned to take the few remaining items to sell at their workplaces on Monday.
