Good Morning, Plymouth and Canton! — Derek Fowler, Detroit Moose

Moose, Red Wings alums help raise $30,000 for juvenile diabetes research over the weekend at Arctic Edge.

A packed watched the Detroit Moose take on former NHL stars with the Detroit Red Wings Alumni Association on Saturday as the players skated for a cause.

The two teams raised more than $30,000 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. While the Red Wings Alumni Association — which includes notable former Red Wings and other former pro players with ties to the area — skated away with a 10-3 win, the fundraiser was a joint effort between the two charitables clubs.

Stars on hand for the game included Hall of Famer Igor Larionov, along with ex-Red Wings Joe Kocur, Petr Klima, Darren McCarty and Sean Burr and journeyman NHL alum and former Michigan State Spartan Bryan Smolinski.

Moose captain Derek Fowler, who , is a Canton resident and took a moment after his team's hard-fought game to wish Plymouth and Canton residents a good morning while at a post-game reception at in Canton.
