Viewfinder: VFW and VVA Fish Fry
These volunteers have been serving fish dinners each week during Lent for so many years, they've lost count.
The annual Lenten Friday Fish Fry hosted by the Mayflower/Lt Gamble VFW Post 6695 and Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 528 has been going on so long, Carl Glass -- who co-chairs this year's event with Ron King -- can't recall the exact number of years. But he knows this: People flock to dinner between 5 and 7 p.m. each Friday during Lent and the money raised is used to help veterans and children. VFW Post 6695 is at 1426 S. Mill St. A 4-piece adult dinner costs $8; smaller meals can be ordered as well.
